Joyfully Embracing Our Mission
St. Clare School Family News | 2 May 2021
WE BELONG TO THE TRUTH
Children, let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth.
Now this is how we shall know that we belong to the truth
and reassure our hearts before him
in whatever our hearts condemn,
for God is greater than our hearts and knows everything.
Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us,
we have confidence in God
and receive from him whatever we ask,
because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
And his commandment is this:
we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ,
and love one another just as he commanded us.
Those who keep his commandments remain in him, and he in them,
and the way we know that he remains in us
is from the Spirit he gave us.
Dear St. Clare School Families,
I had the great pleasure to be present for our diocese’s 40th Anniversary mass at St. John Vianney parish this Saturday. What resonated with me was the recognition given to Linda Tully, whom I am honored to call my friend. Linda was awarded the St. Joseph the Worker Award as someone whose loyalty and service to the Diocese of San Jose since its beginnings under Bishop DuMaine is without comparison. Linda is retiring this year and she will be missed. I am grateful for her friendship and her example as one who truly exemplifies a person who belongs to the truth, as described in today’s second reading from the First Letter of John.
Happy blessings and congratulations to our second grade students who received Holy Communion for the first time today and to those who will be receiving the sacrament next Sunday. It was great to witness their second step in being fully initiated into our Catholic faith, surrounded by family, classmates, teachers and the parish community who will forever be linked with them, as vines to branches. May our love for these communicants grow in deed and in truth.
MAY CROWNING ON WEDNESDAY BEGINS AT 8:45 A.M.
Please read the ORIGINAL POST regarding this revered Catholic devotion and St. Clare tradition. Key points:

IT’S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!
This has been a challenging year for all of us, and especially for our teachers who are true heroes, while they, themselves are experiencing the impact of the pandemic in their own lives. They showed up day after day to lead with love and to give of themselves, when there’s so much need. I am grateful to walk among them in this ministry.
I am grateful to PTG, our Room Reps and our office FunBassadors (aka Ms. Cherell & Ms. Teresa) and to all of you for your help...I can’t wait to see the many ways we will make them feel loved this week!
Post on social media outlets about how our teachers have positively impacted your students’ lives @stclareschoolsantaclara #stclareteachersrock.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENGAGEMENT
We are looking for parents or family members who have expertise in engaging donors and alumni. If you would like to fulfill your service commitment in this way, kindly reach out to me (cecile.mantecon@dsj.org) directly. We are looking to put together a committed group of individuals who can help connect our community to support the upgrade of our ventilation system.
We hope to see many of you this week at the PTG meeting. Please RSVP in the original post from Katy Kerns.
Stay tuned with news from the Jog-a-Thon Committee to thank and congratulate winners of prizes and top honors. Thank you, all, for your participation!
Let us continue to pray for the people of India as they struggle to contain the impact of COVID-19 on their nation. Let us also pray that leaders of developed nations take up the responsibility to help the most vulnerable. Stay tuned for an initiative that a couple of our students are working on to show solidarity towards this effort.
Congratulations to all in our community who will be graduating and receiving the sacraments this month.
May this fifth week of Easter and this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother be filled with hope. We pray for all mothers and mother-figures who nurture us, empower us to come into our own and wrap us in their mantle of goodness so that we may be as God intended us to be.
Grateful for your partnership and support,
Mrs. Cecile Mantecon, Principal
